One of the classrooms at the Good Samaritan School

Please note the holes on the floor and the state of the desks. We want to bring the standard of the school up to scratch as soon as possible.

Carols by Candlelight 2013

Yet another very enjoyable start to the festive season which was attended by over 75 people.
The singing seems to get better each year and our sincere thanks must go to Rachel, Phil and the newly formed Llysfaen Singers.
Hopefully much of the money raised will go towards some much needed refurbishing work at the Good Samaritan School in Lusaka.
This is Maggie,Sharon and Rev.Alick Malama during our visit to the school October 2013.

Back from Zambia

Wow! We are back from an amazing trip to Lusaka and Chiziro. It was great to see the new school we have built and it was a privilege to be present at the opening ceremony. The heat was incredible and so were the smiling faces of the children and the teachers. The builders have done an amazing job and it was wonderful to see the cooks preparing food for the children over their open fire.
We also made two visits to The Good Samaritan School in Lusaka but were disappointed to find out that the American Charity who had been providing food for the children had pulled out due to the recession. This now means that fewer pupils attend the school as parents/carers keep them home from school to work to earn money for food.
We are determined to reinstate the feeding programme at the school and have set up a Feeding Support account to pay for the maize which is used to make Nshima for the children. We also gave money to Rev Alick Malama to grow crops which can be used to feed the children in the future.
We desperately need people to donate a few pounds a month via a standing order so that we can ensure that the programme is successful. Please help us if you can!

Inauguration of The Ethembeni School

We are pleased to announce that following the completion of the new build school in Chiziro four of the trustees are travelling to Zambia in two weeks time for the official inauguration ceremony . The school now has a three classroom block, a feeding station, latrines and a safe storage room all made possible by the kind donations that our supporters have made over the last few years.
On our return I hope to post lots of new photos!

Quiz and Ploughman's Supper 2013

We held another very successful quiz night with about 15 different teams all battling it out.
Thanks must go to Rob Wilson for compiling the questions. Also to our little team of helpers who made the evening run so smoothly. We are now looking forward to Carols by Candlelight which will take place at Sharon and Gareth's house in Cyncoed on Sunday 15th December at 7p.m.
Everyone is welcome to come along and drink mulled wine, eat mince pies and join in singing Christmas favourites as usual.

Gower Yomp 2013

Yet again we were pretty lucky with the weather for our annual Yomp. No rain but plenty of wind!
It was rather disappointing that many people who had pledged to come along dropped out for a wide variety of reasons but those 40 walkers who came along had a great time.
We are very grateful to people for their donations via Just Giving and others who collected from friends, family and work colleagues.
As usual all money raised will be sent to Zambia and used to complete the new school in Chiziro which now has about 300 pupils on its register.
Photos will be added shortly.
